Hello everyone and welcome to the start of what we hope will be another awesome summer of baseball, family and friendships. We have record growth again this season in Brandon Minor Baseball (468 players, 90 coaches/volunteers), and as it continues to grow we are faced with new challenges. Once again this season, we have outgrown our space at Simplot Millennium Park, and have Rally Cap programming at Ecole Harrison fields. Obviously with more and more numbers, we require more and more volunteers. 1 out of every 5 people registered with BMBA is also a volunteer (coach, manager, etc). Truly amazing!

Without this attitude of unselfishness and willingness to give back to our community, none of the success in BMBA would be realized. We also have dedicated volunteers with no 'dog in the fight' so to speak. These people give back because they love the game and want to share their expertise, experience and wisdom with the new generations. This includes our umpires and other volunteers. Our executive here at BMBA needs to be thanked also for their willingness to give up their time, share ideas, debate and be present at meetings. So much work happens behind the scenes and it does not go un-noticed. Because of a strong executive and people who are passionate about the sport. We have been able to continue with our winter programming.

Our Pee Wee and Bantam AAA Marlins teams have joined the Winnipeg AAA leagues, and we wish them all the best this season, representing Brandon and BMBA. We are also welcoming a Mosquito team from Sioux Valley, who will join our league for an exhibition schedule.

So before we get started with night games, Monster Mania, eating Spitz, Jamborees, double headers, canteen hot dogs, hosting the Bantam A Championships, and all of the fun, I  wanted to make sure that everyone knows how much their efforts, time and energy is appreciated by all of us here at Brandon Minor Baseball. You truly are the stars of this association. Keep on shining!!

Make sure you come up and say "Hi" when you are at the diamonds, and I will do my best to get around and thank our dozens of unsung heroes who really make this association the best minor sports association in Manitoba. Also, please join me in welcoming the Westman Youth Football Association (WYFA) out to Simplot Park at Boyd Field. We look forward to having even more people share our love of sport and enjoy some time out at SMP.

So I guess there's only one thing left to say... PLAY BALL!
