SMP Facility Scope of Duties
Hours Expected:
SMP Facilities Manager: Approximately 800 hours
Regular schedule for Park :
April 1st through September 30th
Monday to Thursday - Games and Practices 4pm until 9:00 pm
Saturdays/Sunday - as needed and typically most weekends in some fashion
“Busy weekends” are 2 weekends in May, 3 in June, and 2 in July for:
Provincials, Minor Baseball Jamboree, Triple Crown tournament.
Sundays are usually AAA double headers not every weekend, depending on schedule of league.
***please note that BMBA will provide staffing through Manitoba Green Team (600 hours) and Canada Jobs (300 hours) and this will need to be coordinated with BMBA***
Diamond Maintenance:
Beginning late April. Evaluations start the week of April 20th and regular season starts the week of April 27th
All 8 diamonds need to be ready to play starting at 4pm daily
Grooming and raking all diamonds, setting bases and pitcher’s mound lengths.
Packing and filing of pitcher’s mounds and setting rubbers if needed.
Setting up pitching machines for the 9U league on game nights
Grass Cutting:
Usually starts in May cutting 3 times a week until July
Baseball fields, Football fields, All grass areas inside and outside park.
Front south entrance way, around the fence line, north gate exterior and back football road.
Weed whacking as needed, quite heavy in May and June.
Spraying:
Spray under all fence lines, all diamonds, and fences. This will need to be done at least twice.
Broadleaf spraying for weed and dandelion control to be done in early June.
Pest control:
Ongoing throughout the season
Sprinkler and water control:
There are underground sprinklers on 3 diamonds.
There is water on every diamond, so sprinklers or hose drag can be set up in the summer to save grass.
Football Fields have full underground sprinklers that need to be maintained and run fully in June, July, and August
Washrooms:
Daily cleaning and upkeep to maintain high level of cleanliness
Schedule and monitor septic tank cleanout.
Unplugging toilets and maintenance in washroom.
Other duties:
Maintain ballpark owned equipment.
Staff need to be present at the park when baseball is on as many items may come up!
